Forever Lazy

Here in this space I have written haiku's to my snuggie.  I have pointed out the absurdity of the peekaroo.

Now, I am pleased to bring you the incredible Forever Lazy.  This newest in warmth generating products was brought to my attention by the lovely JF.  She knows how much I adore the snuggie but I believe she threatened to disown me if I chose to wear one of these.  While the commercial is true - heat is expensive and I am often frustrated by my too long and too short blankets.  I hate to wrestle with them.  That said, I assured her that until there were feet attached to such an object I would continue to protest the Forever Lazy.  Having to put on a pair of socks is in violation of the Forever Lazy product name.  I am TOO lazy to put on socks in addition to my forever lazy.  And I must wear socks because I am clearly too cold for any other product.  Come on, Forever Lazy, get it together.  I want to be as lazy as possible, attach the socks!!!

OMG - Watching this hurts

Watching this video hurt me.  I just have no words.  I just saw this clip on a television show on E! and it is from America's Got Talent.  I just have no words

Tchubibaron and the Honey Badger

Two videos that have recently made me laugh.

First is a group of men (attractive men) doing what appears to be the Brazilian version of the Macarena.  I think the dance makes me laugh.  I think the huge smiles that are on the guys' faces make me chuckle.  The jokes that my friends and I have told about this video is ultimately what makes this video the absolute best.

BFF and I have been laughing about this second video for two days now.  The Honey Badger  is kind of  a crazy animal.  Honey Badger don't care.  Honey Badger is naasty!

The internet

So, the internet is insane.  Yesterday I posted about Chobani Yogurt and my love for it.  When I looked at the blog yesterday, I had a comment from "Emily @ Chobani".  WHAT?!  That is crazy.  How did they know I posted about them?  Is there some electronic tech thing that alerts them when their product is talked about online?  Was I violating some sort of crazy trademark law?  Insane.

They seemed to like my comment and said I filled them with sunshine.  Isn't that nice?  Maybe they'll post my words on their website and I'll get coupons for Free Chobani or a years supply of Chobani.  LOL.  That would make me both very happy and laugh hilariously.

The other CRAZY thing about the internet is connected to the yogurt and to this blog.  I was flabbergasted by the comment on my post that I posted my flabbergast on facebook.  (I recognize that flabbergast may not be a noun but I think that if you can be flabbergasted then a flabbergast must make you feel such a thing.  Just like if you can be disgruntled, then you must also be able to be gruntled. IMHO.  lol)

So I posted it on facebook and in mere moments, I had 63 people view my blog.  At first I couldn't figure out how people even knew the site of my blog if I didn't tell them - then I remembered that it was on my facebook profile.  Insane.

The internet is a small and crazy world.  I would have done the same thing if someone had posted the message I posted on facebook.  I would have immediately followed the link and checked it out.  I do it all the time.

Sometimes though, I am just blown away by the rapidity of things on the internet and how absolutely connected we can really be.

NKOTB & Backstreet Boys

On Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years Eve, New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys performed.  I have to admit that it made me insanely HAPPY!

I am such a child of the boy band era.  Add some New Edition and N'Sync to the mix and I would be in heaven.  (Boy Band sidenote: I actually prefer N'Sync to Backstreet Boys - like totally way, way, way prefer - hee hee).

I actually may save some cash and treat myself to concert tickets for my birthday - the concert is in June.  Giant waste of money - but totally well worth it.  I mean why would I miss such a quality reunion tour.  LOL

Back-Streets-Back - ALRIGHT!

Funny toys (revisited)

A couple of weeks ago I wrote a blog entry about these "plush microbes" that I thought were hilarious and cute.

Today as I looked around my office I realized that I already owned one of these microbes.  I own the one called the "kissing disease", otherwise known as Mono.  I received as a gift from one of my fave students CC when he graduated.  I remember the conversation when he gave it to me.  He knew that I would find it both super cute and freaking hilarious.  Of course, I do.

It was a nice feeling to know how well your students can know you sometimes and how you can forget certain things until something jars you or until you take the time to look around your office.

Here's a picture of my little plush microbe at home on her shelf.

Twisted sense of humor

Sometimes I find that my sense of humor is really twisted.  I was reading my dear friend JF's blog and she had a link to euphemisms for menstruation.  Of course I clicked on, who can resist a link to something called a "Menstruationary".

These euphemisms are making me laugh really hard.  I love euphemisms.  I think it is hilarious the number of ways we, as human beings, will come up with to say things that make us uncomfortable.  Instead of saying sex or penis or menstruation, we will come up with eight million ways to say these things that are more awkward, often offensive and mostly gross.

Still...my twisted sense of humor finds them hilarious.

I may love the snuggie....but....

this is too much.  Introducing the "Peekaru".

HAHAHA

Oh my goodness.  It reminds me of the scene from Alien when the baby comes out of the guys chest.  This is just absurd.

OMG - Jesse Spano

My last post made me think of Jesse Spano from Saved by the Bell because Elizabeth Berkeley was in Showgirls and that made me think of my favorite Jesse Spano scene, in fact my favorite scene from Saved By the Bell.  So I immediately needed to find it on you tube because I immediately needed to see it and enjoy it.  Since I am wide awake, why shouldn't I?

I remember this scene so vividly from my childhood and it was so dramatic.  I remember relating to Jesse Spano way to much.  She always needed to be perfect and get good grades and make it all happen.  I understood.  My friend MdS and I would always re-enact this dramatic scene when things got a bit rough here in our adult loves.  Ah, I loved the over-dramatized acting of 90s teenage drama/comedy.  For some reason this also made me think of 90210 episode where they hold the rally to let Donna graduate.  "Donna Martin graduates!  Donna Martin graduates!"

Ah, they don't make television like they used to....LOL

Posting dilemma

On my mind has been how do I go about posting on this blog....

Do I post once day and give multiple joyful moments in that post?  Do I post whenever the spirit of joy moves me?  Do I hold onto snippets of joy for those days when I feel like joy has betrayed me?

All these questions swirl through my head and keep me from posting because I can't figure out if I am doing it right...Isn't that lame?

And who cares, does it matter?  This blog is supposed to be about me reconnecting with things that make me happy...it is not supposed to be an additional stressor.

If you have opinions about it, i'd love to hear them..but for now I will try to stick with posting when the spirit moves me.

Markers, a cappella & stolen palmtrees

I am a woman that takes pleasure in small things.  (No, that is not what she said).

Taking on the commitment to notice the little amusements in life, I am finding lots of them.

Today, I was writing on the giant dry erase calendar in our office.  I went to the bowl that contains all of the dry erase markers and I discovered that new colors had been ordered.  We had purple and orange and green and yellow... They had the chiseled edge that allows me to write nice and neat on the board.  I was, and still am, very happy about this new discovery.  I have written numerous things on dry erase boards today just so I could use the many different colors.

I ran into a student on the street today.  CH is one of my favorites, so running into him is  in and of itself a joyous moment.  That is not what I want to write about though.  Instead, the content of our conversation is what made me laugh.  CH informed me that the a cappella community (we have 10 different groups) think I am the world's biggest a cappella fan.  The reason this new moniker has been bestowed on me is because during the recent orientation showcase, I was in the front row and I was bopping along to the songs.  This is a showcase that is run by our office.  I am the advisor to the a cappella organizations.  I love music.  Truth be told though, I do not really enjoy a cappella all that much.  What I do appreciate is how hard they work and that they are talented students.  Seems like my excellent audience participation was read as full-out fanatic.  Better that they believe that than otherwise.  Still it makes me laugh.

During tonight's event (which turned out just fine) I watched as a student grabbed a giant inflatable palm tree and started to walk out the door.  Before she could leave the building I stopped her and asked her why she was stealing the decor.  Her response was that it matched her room. I thought about the space needed to store such an item in our closet.  I thought about the absurdity of wanting one of those giant things in your room.  I thought about the sheer audacity of simply walking out of an event with the tree.  With all those thoughts whirling in my mind, I turned to her and said  - next time you want to steal decor, just ask.  Then proceeded to let her have the palm tree.  I hope she enjoys it.
